Top 10 popular professions in Mexico, 2022

Approximately 225 thousand graduates obtained their professional license in 2022 according to data from the Ministry of Education in Mexico (known as SEP by its acronym in Spanish), this is almost quarter a million of new professionals in the labor market, many of them already employed.

The Top 10 popular majors this year is shown in the following graph:

This means that roughly 40% of the new practitioners work as lawyers, nurses, psychologists, industrial engineers, managers, pedagogists, architects, civil engineers, dentists, and physicians.

On the other hand, new professional licenses for a master's degree in Mexico sum almost 38 thousand, these are the Top 10 areas of expertise in 2022:

Nearly 21% of the postgraduate professionals hold a master's degree, becoming experts in fields such as education, management, management in health, public administration, law, business administration, quality and productivity.

Finally, 2022 was the year for 6.9 thousand professionals to become officially PhD is different areas:

The Top 10 areas for a doctorate degree in Mexico in 2022 are focused on education, science, law, administration, senior management, psychology, and engineering. These areas of expertise cover almost 51% of all the new professionals.

The visualization shows popular professions for graduates in Mexico. However, more detail analysis must be applied to specific majors such as STEM professions (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), correlating with employability and salaries, since popularity not necessarily implies a great return of investment after finishing University. More analysis to come!
